On average, guns kill or wound 276 people every day in America. Of those shot, about 75 adults and nine children die.

That adds up to just over 100,000 victims of gun violence a year. The rate of firearm murders in the United States is about 16 times that in Australia and 26 times that in Britain.

Leonard Matlovich:
When I was in the military they gave me a medal for killing two men and a discharge for loving one.

Although considered by many to have been an unlikely spokesperson for gay and lesbian civil rights, Leonard Matlovich became one of the glbtq community’s most visible activists in the 1970s after he challenged the United States Air Force’s ban on gay and lesbian service members.
With full military honors and a twenty-one gun salute, Matlovich was interred in the Congressional Cemetery in Washington, D. C. He intended his grave to serve as a memorial for all gay and lesbian veterans. Hence, rather than recording his name, the headstone reads simply “A Gay Vietnam Veteran.” full article here

If the Democrats wanted to, they could use Republican tactics and say, “Well, since both the Republicans and Hugo Chavez denounced the Nobel committee and Obama’s prize, clearly the Republicans are socialist and support facism and brutal dictators.”

Ugly battle has librarians in Oak Brook turning to Teamsters

via librarianpirate

The hatred this man spews is almost unbelievable.  I cannot understand how anyone can be so anti-library.
